The Pantanal

On day five of our vacation in Bonito we went on a day trip to the Pantanal. This is an enormous natural wetland area in Brazil. We spent the day at a farm and ranch enjoying the wildlife and scenery. Our first activity of the day was a safari type ride to look for animals, mostly birds. Here are some of our favorite shots.

A pack of emmas that we saw. They are like ostriches, but a little smaller.

A kingfisher, he is so cute!

These two storks were amazing and huge! It was extra cool because a book we had recently read as a family had storks in it.

Not sure what these are ,but the pink is cool.

This alligator is waiting for his lunch, some fish trying to swim upstream.

This is an anteater. He was way bigger than I thought they were, like a small bear.

After our little safari we took a break for a delicious traditional lunch and a rest. Here is Scott with his after lunch cafezino.

Our next adventure was a boat ride for some more nature watching. Scott and Ethan are hanging out on the way to the boat.

Isaac and Ethan had to sit on the upper deck of the boat. They raced to the boat and were the first ones up there.

This is a capivara, which is a gigantic rodent, but kinda cute. They are everywhere.

Then we stopped for some pirana fishing.

Owen "caught" a pirana. He had a little help from the guide who placed it on the hook. He was delighted with his catch.

Ethan also "caught" a pirana. Then we fed them to an alligator.

At the end of the day the macaws and parrots joined us at the farm. We had some juice, cake and popcorn for a snack. The parrots kept eating the boys' popcorn, and they kept feeding it to them.

This is a picture in Rio

This is a picture of Daddy that is in our apartment that we had in Rio.  Daddy is eating lunch.  We had a good apartment.  It was fun to be in Rio because we had a beach just across the street from our apartment.  We liked to run in the waves there, and it is fun to be there.  We rided bikes there, too.  With those bikes we rided around a lake.  Playing in the waves was my favorite part.

Tinker Toy Helicopter

This is a helicopter made out of tinker toys that I made with Daddy.  It was fun making it with Daddy.  And we did not make it with Isaac because he was at a birthday party with mom.  I think it looks really cool and I like it.  You have to push the green ones to make the back spinner go and push the orange one for the top spinner to go.  It really spins.  I liked making it because it was just me and Daddy.

At Home in Iowa: The Gator

We like to drive this gator and play with it and go to our friend's house with it.  I miss it when we are in Brazil because it is a long time without our gator.

I Found the Lizzard

This is the lizzard that I found in our house.  It was funny and cool because Mommy screamed.  That made it the coolest.

My First Picture - A Really Good Picture

At our house in Bettendorf, I took this picture of Mommy.  I think it is a really good picture of her and Owen.

Owen's Tricycle he got for Christmas

Owen likes to ride his tricycle and he loves to ride it when Isaac and I ride our bikes.  And he likes to ride it and when we go places where he can't ride it he cries.  He is learning how to pedal it by watching us riding our bikes and Mommy pushing his feet on the pedals.  Me and Isaac ride this tricycle, too.  We ride it crazy and Mommy tells us to stop.
